Billye B. Angle, 98, went to be with Jesus September 5, 2019, in Abilene, Texas.
Born Billye Bess Benedict on March 16, 1921, in Knox City to pioneer family Grady Albert Benedict and Beatrice Bates Benedict, she graduated as class salutatorian from Knox City High School in 1938.
She married C.C. (Buddy) Angle on September 29, 1940, in Knox City.
After years of being a farming wife and mother, she and Buddy started The Knox County News in October 1971.
The Angles were honored by then State Representative David Counts with a House Proclamation for their years of service to the community through the News and Mr. Angle's service as the longest tenured Knox City Mayor.
Billye had a unique gift of playing both the organ and piano by ear. She was church organist as well as church pianist in both the First United Methodist Church and First Baptist Church in Knox City. She loved music and was faithful in her commitment of sharing her musical talents for the Lord.
Billye was a founding member of the Knox County Hospital Auxiliary's Pink Ladies and was instrumental in its inception along with three other women in the community.
She adored her family and was the ultimate Mama and Mimi.
Surviving her are daughters, Gwen Angle Decker of Dallas and Stacy Angle Thompson of Tuscola; grandsons, Clay Hewitt and Scooter Thompson; and great-grandsons, Steele and Rex Thompson.

Memorial services are planned for Friday, September 27, at 1:30 p.m. at Hendrick Hospice Chapel, 1651 Pine in Abilene.
