Billie Jo Dillard

Billie Dillard, 91, journeyed from this earth to join her soul mate and late husband, Doyle “Goose” Dillard in heaven on Tuesday, April 26, 2022.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, April 30, 2022, at 10 a.m. at the Tankersley Funeral Home Chapel (807 Columbia St.) with Fred Selby officiating. Burial will follow in Rockdale Cemetery under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home.

Billie Jo Henry was born in Abilene, TX on January 24, 1931, to the late L.D. and Deola (Dalton) Henry. She was reared in Abilene where she received her education through the Abilene School System.

Billie was introduced to her future husband, Doyle by one of his cousins at a dance. The couple eventually united in marriage in Stamford on September 6, 1947. The Dillard's established their home in Lueders, TX, and celebrated 70 years of marriage that was blessed with two children.  Danny and Cindy prior to Doyle's death in 2018.

Most of her years were spent as a homemaker and caregiver for family. Billie’s family and home were her contentment in life. She loved to cook and provide three meals a day for her family. She loved to shop for groceries and did so every Friday. Billie’s heart was full when she and her husband, children, and grandchildren were at her house. She loved being, a wife, mother, and grandma!  Billie was employed at Presto in Abilene for a few years. Billie was a member of the Lueders Church of Christ. Doyle and Billie enjoyed going dancing with family and friends well into their senior years of life.

Billie was proceeded in death by husband, Doyle “Goose” Dillard in 2018, her parents, her brother, Lewis Henry and wife Ann, sisters -in-laws, Imogene Overby and husband Gene, Mercedes Moore and husband Carter, Betty McLennan and husband Bill.

Family left to cherish her memories are her son, Danny Dillard of Lueders, TX; daughter, Cindy Blodgett of Abilene, TX; grandchildren, Tracie Jeansonne and husband Brent, Misti Davis and husband Brian and Steven Blodgett and wife Autumn; great grandchildren, Brooke Turner and husband Daniel, Blake Davis and fiancé Jenna, Tristan Jeansonne, and Chase Jeansonne;                great-great grandchild, Lakin Turner; brother, Kenneth Henry and several nieces, nephews and friends.
