Betsy Gomez Cross

Betsy Cross (Pat) passed away peacefully, at her home in Walker, Louisiana on January 21, 2023.  She was 81 years old.

Betsy was born on September 7, 1941, in Stamford, Texas to Abraham and Ofelia (Gonzales) Cedillo. She worked at the factory and High Flowers while living in Stamford and was married to her late husband Martin E. Gomez Sr.

Betsy moved to Louisiana in 1983, where she worked at Stein Mart. Working as a seamstress all her life Betsy was employed at Dillard’s and later JCPenney.  She was well known and loved by her employees. In 1989, she met her loving husband Levi Scott Cross III. They lived most of their life in Baker, Louisiana. She enjoyed shopping and being a part of her church, St. Pius X Catholic Church of Baton Rouge. She was an active member and did Rosary and communion on Sundays.

Her favorite things were spending time with her family, and She loved being able to get dressed up and smell good. She loved playing her CDs on her record player during the day.

She is survived by her husband, Levi Scott Cross III, children, Regina Gomez, Jeremy Gomez, and Martin Gomez Jr.; and Grandchildren Britny M. Cruz(Randy), and  Siena Brown; Great-Grandchildren, Hayden Vicknair, Mia Cruz, and Isaiah Cruz; Step-Children, Daniel Cross(Patricia), Susannah Cross.; Siblings and their spouses; Frances Jaurez, Juanita Valencia, Eugenia Alvarez, Tommie Martinez (Jose), Victoria Cedillo , Rosemary Rodriguez, Josie Calamaco (Sammy), Ofelia Flores(John),Daniel Cedillo ,Abraham Cedillo, Joey Cedillo(Christina), Rudy Cedillo, and Mario Cedillo. Many Nieces and Nephews, and many friends throughout the years.

She was preceded in death by her parents Ofelia Cedillo and Abraham Cedillo; Her brother Jesse “Smokey” Cedillo; Her late husband Martin E. Gomez Sr.; Her mother-in-law and father-in-law, L.S. Cross Jr., and Evelyn Cross.

Viewing/ Rosary will be at Tankersley Funeral Home in Stamford, Texas on Friday January 27, 2023 at 6:00pm. Funeral Service will be Saturday, January 28, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Stamford, Texas with Father Alex Amburose officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home 807 Columbia Stamford, TX.
