Benny Ray Parnell Sr.

Benny Parnell, Sr., received the ultimate blessing on Wednesday, September 15, 2021, when he went home to his Lord and Savior and his beloved wife, Glyn. He was 85 years old.

Benny Ray Parnell, Sr. was born May 6, 1936, in Stamford, Texas to Raymond Parnell and Katheryn Ashburn Parnell. He was a 1954 graduate of Stamford High School. Benny served in the U.S. Navy from March of 1956 to March of 1962.

Benny married Glyn Medlin on June 2, 1956, in Stamford, TX. Glyn preceded him in death on April 9, 2007.

Benny worked as a truck driver until his retirement. His hobby was his love for repairing various types of vehicles, especially tractors and competing in tractor pulls. Benny was a member of a car and motorcycle club.

Benny enjoyed the simple things in life and country life. Benny and Glyn loved to travel after they retired and treasured family time.

Preceding Benny in death were his parents, and his wife of 50 years, Glyn.

Survivors include, his son, Benny Ray Parnell, Jr. and his wife Debbie of Bossier City, LA; grandson Joseph Parnell and wife Stephanie of Allen, TX.

Benny’s life will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, October 1, 2021, at the Highland Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home.
