Beatrice Marugg Schmidt

Beatrice Marugg Schmidt, a longtime resident of Haskell and Jones Counties, passed away May 1, 2024, at her home in Stamford.  She was born October 15, 1924 in Haskell, Texas to William and Olga Nauert Marugg. On December 15, 1945, she married Valton Schmidt and had two children, Darla and Allen and at the time of Valton’s death, they had been married 76 ½ years.  She and Valton farmed in Haskell County and always had a large garden.  She enjoyed sewing for the family.  She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Alfred Marugg.  She is survived by her brother Carl Marugg of Stamford, two children, Darla Kepner and husband Rick of Crossville, Tennessee and Allen Schmidt and wife Carolyn of Sugar Land, Texas, five grandchildren: Kyle Kepner and wife Becky, Lacey Steinhauer and husband Jason, Ryan Schmidt and wife Melissa, Nathan Schmidt and wife Carol, and Kevin Schmidt and wife Casey, and eight great grandchildren.  A visitation will be held at the Faith Lutheran Church in Sagerton, TX on Sunday, May 5, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Paul Cannon officiating.  Interment will be at the Highland Memorial Cemetery in Stamford, TX .  Condolences may be made and viewed at www.tankersleyfuneralhome.com
