Tony R. Escobedo, the son of Panfilo and Teresa (Reyna) Escobedo was born on September 3, 1942 in Scott City, Kansas. He passed away on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at the age of 76. A rosary service will be Friday, December 7, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. at Tankersley Funeral Home,at 807 S. Columbia, Stamford, TX. Tony will be remembered during a funeral service Saturday, December 8, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home chapel with Pastor Paul Wright officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Cemetery.
Tony was a lifetime resident of Stamford where he attended St. Ann’s Catholic Church and served as an altar server. He graduated from Stamford High School in 1959. Tony worked as a Motor Electrician in Brownwood, TX. from 1968–1974. He then went to work for Kinney Furniture Store where he discovered his passion for furniture repair, a trade that would be his future business. Mr. Escobedo enrolled in the Modern Upholstery Institute and graduated in 1974, opening his own business, Escobedo Upholstery and Furniture Repair.
On August 2, 1971 he married the love of his life, Casimira (Susie) Escobedo in Frederick, OK. Tony and Susie owned and operated Escobedo Upholstery and Furniture Repair for 44 years.
Tony will be remembered for his love of music, dancing, boxing, football, fishing, but more than anything he will be remembered for the love he gave to each & every member of his family, but most especially his grandchildren who were the light of his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Panfilo and Teresa Escobedo, 2 sisters, Fernanda Escobedo and Janie Escobedo, and one grandson; Justin Villa.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years: Casimira (Susie) Escobedo of Stamford, 2 daughters: Irma Salas and husband Juan Coronado of Stamford, and Elvia Villa of Stamford, one son: Joe Salas and wife Gayla of Stamford, two special daughters (granddaughters): Angie Fuentes and husband Rudy Fuentes of Stamford, and Deborah Salazar and husband Eric Roque of Stamford, 13 grandchildren, and 25 great grandchildren, two sisters, Nora Macias and husband Jesse of Rule, and Louise Moreno and husband Alex of Abilene, one brother; Phillip (Kelly) Escobedo and wife Connie of Stamford, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends
