Annie Lois Hughes

Annie Lois (Copeland) Hughes was born March 13, 1936, to WJ and Annie Rae (Hindsley) Copeland in Rule, TX, she was the youngest of the 8 children in her family. Lois, 86, was reunited with her husband Kenneth and family that has passed before when she followed her Savior to her eternal home on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, in Ballinger, TX.

Miss Annie Lois Copeland was united in marriage to Kenneth Hughes on December 5, 1952, in Stamford, TX.

Lois held multiple jobs throughout her lifetime including dispatcher at the police department, dispatch for transport company and working with her husband Kenneth in his many ventures. Together they were blessed with a rather large family. Lois was a member of the Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Kenneth on February 14, 2021, her parents, William, and Annie, 4 brothers, Joe Copeland, R.L. Helms, W.J. Copeland, Jr., and Lamar Copeland, 2 sisters, Gertrude Dutton, and Doris Berry, 1 grandson, Eric Glenn and                       1 sister, Gladys Carter.

Lois is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Danny Derrick of Hawley; daughter, Sandra Carman of Abilene; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Ricky Wedeking of Stamford; 11 grandchildren, Mindy & Justin Boatwright, Yulia Channell, Amy & Shannon Baird, Kendra Carman & Brad Johnson, Racheal Cann & Breanna, Colton Wedeking, and Haven Wedeking; 10 great children, Brittnie Channell, Jeffrey & Justine Burleson, Arik Burleson, Lilly Carman, Atticus Johnson, Jaycee & Ahmad Birks, Kristian Baird, and Gibson Wedeking; 4 great-great grandchildren, Piper, Slator, Jon and Jaycee Burleson; and other relatives and friends.

The family will gather for visitation at Tankersley Funeral Home (807 Columbia) in Stamford Friday, July 8, 2022, from 5-6 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at the Tankersley Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor J.W. Rainey officiating. Burial will follow at the Hawley Cemetery in Hawley, TX under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home.
