Ann Bohannan, 81, of Stamford, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 7, 2010 in an Abilene hospital. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, at the Tankersley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Highland Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home on Monday from 6 until 7 p.m.
Ann was born August 20, 1929 in Stamford to Charles and Carrie Wells Reston. She was a lifetime resident of Stamford. Ann worked for the Stamford Independent School System for many years in the food service program. Ann married Walter Ed Bohannan on March 21, 1950 in Anson, TX. She had been a member of the RSVP (retired senior volunteer program) at the Stamford VIP Community Center since 1989 and was chosen as volunteer of the year in 1991 and again in 2006. She was also a life member of the DAV Auxiliary and a member of the VFW Auxiliary. She has been a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Stamford since 1952.
She is survived by 2 daughters, Joy Bean of Stamford and Ruby Ann Bohannan of Coppell, TX, 1 granddaughter, Lene’ Bean Nakagai and 1 great grand son, Craig Nakagai, both of Lewisville, TX, 3 brothers in law, Henry Bohannan of Kingman, Arizona, Raymond Bohannan of Magnolia, Arkansas, Lloyd Bohannan and wife Marilyn of Grandview, TX, 2 sisters in law, Isadora Eaves of Arlington, TX and Claudine Robinette of Andrews, TX, and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 1 daughter, Linda Bohannan, and 4 brothers, Stanley Reston, Max Reston, Kenneth Reston, and Shelby Reston.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers that memorials be made to either the American Cancer Society – P. O. Box 173 – Stamford, Texas 79553 or to the American Heart Association – 7272 Greenville Avenue – Dallas, Texas 75231.
