Louise Portwood

Eleanor Louise Portwood, 86, of San Angelo and formerly of Stamford, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2010 in San Angelo. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Tankersley Funeral Home Chapel in Stamford with Rev. Roy T. Newell officiating. Burial will follow in the Spring Creek Cemetery in Avoca. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home on Friday from 5 until 7 p.m.
Louise was born May 20, 1924 in Dallas, TX to John Thomas and Jewel Hicks Newell. The family moved to the Lueders-Avoca area when she was just a child. Louise lived her entire life in the area until moving to San Angelo in 1997 to be near her children. She married Ed Portwood September 16, 1958 in Stamford. She was a member of the Four Square Church.
She is survived by 2 daughters, Dolores Caffey of San Angelo, TX and Sandy Cramblit of McAlister, Oklahoma, 1 brother, Roy T. Newell of Abilene, 10 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 37 years, and 1 sister, Lucille Newell.
