Joe Laury

Joe Laury, 59, of Stamford passed away on Saturday, October 2, 2010 in Stamford.  Graveside funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 7, 2010 at the Highland Memorial Cemetery in Stamford. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Joe was born April 6, 1951 in Spur, Texas to Honorable and Lonnell Laury.  He was raised in the Aspermont area and graduated high school there in 1970.  He then went to San Angelo State University and graduated with an Associate’s degree in 1972. Joe was a self employed auto mechanic and had a special love in his race cars. He was a member of the Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Janie Gallardo Laury of Stamford, 1 daughter, Stephaine Laury-Bah and husband Aboubacar of Lewisville, Texas, 1 sister, Barbara Cole of Chula Vista, CA and 1 brother, Lawrence Gene Laury of Macon, GA.  Joe was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Nancy Henkhaus in 1996. Pallbearers will be Lonnie Applin Sr., Leo Dillard, Ronnie Bridges, Billy Ford, Victor Davis, Lucky Jones, Don Mayes, and James Washington.
