Crispin Martinez Jr.

Crispin Martinez Jr., 92, of Stamford, passed away on Saturday in an Abilene hospital. Rosary services will be at 6 p.m. Sunday at the Tankersley Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Mass will be at 2 P.M. Monday at the St. Ann’s Catholic Church with Father George Roney officiating. Burial will follow at the Highland Memorial Cemetery in Stamford.

Crispin was born November 16, 1917 in George West, Texas to Crispin and Fernanda Martinez. He was raised in Sinton, Texas. He married Julia Lopez on November 7, 1943 in Levelland, Texas. They moved to Haskell in 1975 and to Stamford in 1978. He was a member of the St. Ann’s Catholic Church. Crispin worked most of his life as a farmer and at the Stamford Cotton Oil Mill. Julia preceded him in death in 1993.

Survivors include 6 sons, Lupe Martinez of Amarillo, Chano Martinez of Uvalde, Joe Martinez and Crispin Martinez III, both of Hereford, Alex Martinez of Knox City and Robert Martinez of Stamford, 6 daughters, Irene Barrientos of Hereford, Sylvia Barrientos and Diana Franklin both of Stamford, Yolanda Maldonado of Amarillo, Anita Sandoval of Abilene and Esmerelda Rangel of Tulsa, Oklahoma, 1 sister, Basilica Seinz of Three Rivers, Texas, 31 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
