Carl Wesley "Jack" Calhoun Sr.

Carl Wesley “Jack” Calhoun Sr., 91, of Stamford and formerly of Midland, passed away on Wednesday, July 14, 2010 in Stamford.  Graveside services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Friday, July 16, 2010 at the Fairview Cemetery in Midland, Texas with Bishop Tom Heller and Ken Gray officiating and under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home of Stamford, Texas. Mr. Calhoun was born August 28, 1918 in Ochiltree County Texas near Perryton, to Wesley and Edna Calhoun. He grew up in west Texas and attended school in Midland. He married Eula Hardin August 16, 1936 in the First Christian Church Parsonage in Midland, Texas. Jack and Eula celebrated their 70th anniversary in 2006 in their home in Goodman Mo. Jack was a farmer and rancher all of his adult life, in Midland from 1936 until 1956, moving to Muleshoe from 1956 until 1976 where he also joined the Masonic Lodge. In 1976 he moved to Goodman, Missouri, where he ranched for over 33 years until moving to Stamford 2009 to be near his daughter. Jack did custom bush hogging and cattle hauling until one year ago when he retired. Jack was a member of the Baptist Church.  He is survived by 2 sons, Carl Rayford Calhoun and wife Dolly and Carl Wesley Calhoun Jr. and wife Cathy all of Midland, 1 daughter, Glenda Mueller and husband Jerry of Stamford, 8 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two sisters, two brothers, and one son, Harold Calhoun.
