Leona Vanderworth Teichelman

February 23, 1917 — June 4, 2010

Leona Vanderworth Teichelman, a long-time resident of the Rule-Hamlin area, died Friday, the 4th of June at the Hamlin Memorial Hospital. She was born February 23, 1917, in Old Glory, Texas, the daughter of the late Oscar and Dora Rinn Vanderworth.  She graduated from Old Glory High School. She continued her education to become a LVN, and worked for over 30 years at the Hamlin Memorial Hospital.  On November 26, 1936, she married Fred Teichelman in Old Glory.  Fred passed away on December 7, 2003, and Leona moved to Stamford. She was an avid bowler and cared deeply for all her bowling friends.  She was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Sagerton and the Old Glory Sons of Hermann Lodge where she served as an officer and agent.    She loved and enjoyed her family and friends.   She also worked with her husband in their family farming operation. Leona passed away at the age of 93 years, 3 months, and 11 days.  Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 6, 2010, at the Faith Lutheran Church in Sagerton, with Parish Lay Minister Don Heller and Rev. Teresa Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the Old Glory Cemetery under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home of Stamford. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, her parents, two sisters; Gladys Branscum and Henrietta Rueffer, and one brother; Lee Roy Vanderworth.

Mrs. Teichelman is survived by two daughters, Lavada Rhodes of Stamford, TX and Judy Hale and husband Jimmy of Snyder, TX; two sons, Ronnie Fred Teichelman and wife LaDonna of Amarillo, TX and Steve Teichelman and wife Angela of Childress, TX; two brothers, Eugene Vanderworth of Brenham, TX and O.D. Vanderworth  and wife Ruby of Tyler, TX; one sister-in-law, Sue Vanderworth of Stamford, TX; seven grandchildren, Sonda McLellan and husband Larry, Greg Rhodes and wife Canita, Van Hale and wife Becky, Shayne Teichelman and wife Danielle, Ryan Teichelman and wife Candice, Coy Teichelman and wife Nora, and Stormy Teichelman; 16 great- grandchildren and 4 great- great- grandchildren.
