Stuart Lee Raines

Stuart Lee “Stack” Raines, 94, of Stamford and formerly of Hamlin, passed away on Wednesday, 05/12/2010 in Stamford.  Graveside rites with military honors will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Abilene with Rev. James Brigham officiating and under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home in Stamford.
Stuart was born November 13, 1915 in Kahoka, Missouri to Robert and Sadie Raines.  He moved to Wink, Texas as a child.  He graduated from Wink High School in 1933 where he was active in all sports especially football.  After graduation he attended college and then enlisted in the United States Navy from 1943 until 1946.  He moved to Hamlin in 1954 and started his own business as Hamlin Construction Co. operating this business for over 32 years,  and retired in 1986.
Stuart is survived by 1 son, Bobbie “Bo” Raines and wife Jane of Austin, TX, 1 grandson, Matthew Raines and 1 great grandson, Dylan Raines.
