Maxine Newell

In loving memory of Maxine Newell, loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Maxine Newell, 78, passed away on Friday, January 29, 2010 at an Abilene hospital. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at the Tankersley Funeral Home Chapel in Stamford. Burial will follow at the Spring Creek Cemetery in Jones County with Mr. Chris Carson officiating. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home on Monday from 5 until 7 p.m.

Maxine was born in Haskell County on May 8 1931. She moved from Haskell County to Stamford at the age of 13. She married the love of her life, Roy Newell on April 14, 1945 in Stamford. She and Roy have lived in the same house in Abilene since 1956. She worked for the Texas Coca Cola Bottling Co. for 17 years. She was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Roy T. Newell Sr. and their collie, Luke, of Abilene, 2 daughters, Gloria Dawn Millich and husband Randy, and Teresa Ann Flutsch, 1 son, Roy T. Newell Jr., 8 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Dena Yarbrough.
