Carlota Guzman Calamaco, 82, of Abilene and formerly of Stamford, passed away on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 in an Abilene hospital. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Temple Baptist Church in Stamford with Rev. Eddie Gonzales officiating. Burial will follow in the Highland Memorial Cemetery in Stamford under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home. Carlota was born October 2, 1927 in Karnes City, Texas to Clemente and Hodana Guzman. She moved to Stamford with her family in 1970 and had been a resident there since then. She married Leon Calamaco in 1945 in Reno, Nevada. She was a member of the Israel Baptist Church in Abilene. She is survived by 7 sons, Felix Calamaco of Aspermont, Leon Calamaco Jr. of Abilene, Carlos Calamaco of San Antonio, Samuel Calamaco and Daniel Calamaco both of Stamford, Paul Calamaco of San Antonio and Thomas Calamaco of Victorville, California, 4 daughters, Mary Ann Gonzales and Shirley Ramos both of Abilene, Liz Baez of Stamford, and Eleanor Calamaco of Arizona, 6 brothers, Manual Guzman, Alexandro Guzman, Rudy Guzman, Clemente Guzman Jr., Raymond Guzman, and Ismael Guzman, 2 sisters, Ermelinda Guzman of Stamford and Geneva Guzman of Weatherford, 36 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and 5 sons, Robert Calamaco, Arthur Calamaco, David Calamaco, Edward Calamaco, and Louis Calamaco.
