Rocky Steven Boggs, 56, passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2009 at the V.A. hospital in Dallas. Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Bethel Baptist Church in Funston with Revs. Bill Dickson and J. W. Raney officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethel Cemetery under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home of Stamford.
Rocky was born August 3, 1953 in Fort Worth, Texas to Durward and Jean Boggs. He was raised in Goldsmith, Texas and graduated Odessa High School in 1971. He then enlisted in the United State Navy and served four years, following his enlistment he entered Abilene Christian University and graduated with a degree in business. He then reenlisted in the Navy and attended Officer Candidate School. Rocky retired as a Lieutenant Commander in 1996. His love was his Harley Davidson motorcycles which he said he had put over one hundred thousand miles on. He was also interested in wood work, carpentry and building. Rocky was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church in Funston.
Rocky was preceded in death by his father Durward Boggs in 1998.
He is survived by his mother and step father, Jean and Clinton Rogers of Stamford, his grandmother, Bertie Beauchamp of Haskell, 1 brother, Larry Boggs of Anson, 2 sisters, Cheryl DeBerry of Anson and Cindy Kendrick of Abilene, 4 nieces, Gina Burns of Auburn, Indiana, Michelle Elliott and Carissa Siler both of Lubbock and Stacey Huff of Abilene, 3 nephews, Jake Darnall of Bremerton, WA, Brent Boggs of Fort Wayne, Ind, Cory Kendrick of Abilene, and numerous great nieces, great nephews, and other relatives and friends.
