Johnny B. Applin, 68, of Midland and formerly of Stamford, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 6, 2009 at a Midland nursing home. Funeral services were 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Solomon Temple Baptist Church in Stamford with Rev. Jessie Hooper officiating. Burial followed in the Highland Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home of Stamford.
Blue, as he was known to all, was born November 21, 1940 in Groesbeck, Texas to George and Bertie Applin. He was a cook for the Perrini Ranch Steak House in Buffalo Gap, Texas and worked in food service most of his adult life. He was a Baptist.
He is survived by his wife Lavern Ruth Applin of Stamford, 1 daughter, Bobbie Ann (Alton) Johnson of Midland, 3 sons, Rodney Lewis of Dallas, Charles Applin of Abilene and John B. Edward Applin Jr. of Stamford, 1 sister, Ollie Faye Mosley of Midland and 1 brother, Lonnie Applin of Stamford, 13 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild, a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Blue was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, five brothers, seven sisters, two nephews and one niece.
