Bennie Ray Thomas

Bennie Ray Thomas was called home to our Lord on Monday, April 17, 2017 at the age of 75.

Funeral Services for Mr. Thomas will be held Saturday, April 22, 2017, 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church (214 N Swenson) with Pastor Paul Wright officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home.

Bennie was born April 26, 1941 in Rule, Texas to Oscar Thomas, Jr. and Lavada Posteal Thomas.

He resided in the Stamford area until the age of 15 when his family relocated to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where he completed his education. He employed by Texas Instruments and Sears, but spend most of his career as a self-employed truck driver and mechanic. Bennie enjoyed auto racing in his spare time.
Bennie married the love of his life, Judy Ann Carter on August 29, 1975.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Judy Ann Thomas of Stamford; 8 children, Sonia Thomas-Smith and husband Everton of Houston, Gregory Thomas and companion Norma “Marla” Camacho of Austin, Eboney Thomas of Abilene, Tammi Thomas and Clinton Bailey of Stamford, Carla Thomas and Michael Milam of Abilene, Benny Thomas Jr. of Pasadena, CA, Audrey Thomas of Los Angeles, CA, and Rita Thomas of Santa Anna, CA; 1 brother, Charles Thomas and wife Mary of Albuquerque, New Mexico; 3 sisters, Gwenda Hooper and companion Kerry Baker of Victorville, CA, Clara Faye Thompson and husband Al and Minnie Lou Daniels and husband William, all of Houston; 11 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, Lillie Bell Thomas and Verna Hill, 1 brother, Billy Joe Thomas, and 1 son, Darnell Thomas.
