Alvin Ernest Bredthauer, 95, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma and formerly of Sagerton, passed away Thursday, June 4, 2009 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 8, 2009 at the Faith Lutheran Church in Sagerton with Rev. Keith Palmquist officiating. Burial will follow in the Highland Memorial Cemetery in Stamford under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 5 until 7 p.m.
Alvin was born on December 1, 1913 in Caldwell, Texas to Clemmens and Emma Bredthauer. He married Adela Gaskamp February 23, 1938 and they moved to Sagerton, Texas in 1943. Adela died March 11, 1974. He married Alice Lewis on May 24, 1975. Alice died July 1, 2001. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Sagerton. He loved life and never met a stranger. Alvin was a farmer and a mechanic.
He is survived by his son, Harold Bredthauer who he had lived with since August 2001 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, 1 brother, Walter Bredthauer and wife Alene of Haskell, 1 sister, Irene Bortz and husband Awald of Houston, 1 granddaughter, Holly Cooley and husband David of Katy, 1 grandson, Tony Carter and wife Sharla of Amarillo, 3 great granddaughters, Caroline Cooley of Katy, and Abby and Holly Carter of Amarillo, numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews and a lot of friends.
In addition to Adela and Alice, he was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Alfred and Ernest Bredthauer, 2 sisters, Adela Nierdieck Teichelman, and Lenora Kokomore, and 1 daughter, Dorothy Mae Carter.
