Lowell Lynn White

September 30, 1932 — June 2, 2016

Lowell Lynn White of Stamford was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 2, 2016, at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene. Lynn was born in Stamford, Texas on September 30, 1932, to Thomas Lee White and Myrtle M. Smith White.

Lynn grew up in the Tuxedo area where he attended school. He graduated from Hamlin High School in 1951. Lynn had an older brother, Louis, with whom he always had a close relationship.

He met Nancy Louise Lovvorn in Stamford, Texas at a church function. They married on November 24, 1951 and shared 59 wonderful years together until her passing on March 21, 2011.

Lynn was an accomplished farmer. He was awarded the Young Farmer of the Year award by the Stamford Jaycees for 1967-1968. In addition, he served on the board of Farmers CO-OP Society of Stamford from 1968-1980, and on the board of the Federal Land Bank from 1986-1997.

He had a servant’s heart. He served as a deacon with First Baptist Church in Stamford where he was an active member. He also served on the Stamford School Board from 1977-1982. He volunteered with meals on wheels for many years and served on the Stamford VIP Center board.

Lynn was a loving husband, father, grandpa, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He had many interests including RVing around the United States and Canada, politics, and spending time with people. He never met a stranger and spent many hours visiting with family and friends over a good meal. He always had a smile on his face.

Lynn lived his life with honesty and integrity. He was intelligent, kind, genuine, and giving.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Nancy Lovvorn White, brother Louis White, sister Dorothy, sister-in-law Edna Stooksberry White, brother-in-law Vernon Lovvorn and wife Mary, and brother-in-law Douglas Lovvorn.

He is survived by his son David (Denise) White of Stamford, daughters Marilyn Keneaster of Tomball and Lynda (Mark) Foster of Levelland, grandchildren Kristi (Zach) Logan of Stamford, Cheryl (Matt) Overbey of Gruver, Amanda (Chad) Moore of Lubbock, Kara (Ramon) Carroll of Tomball, Nathan Foster of Lubbock, great grandchildren Kagen Logan, Alex Overbey, Braden Logan, Ashlyn Carroll, Sariah Carroll, Walker Moore, Ella Overbey, Caiden Carroll, sister-in-law Lou Jean Lovvorn, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm on Sunday, June 5, 2016, at First Baptist Church in Stamford with Dr. Jacob West officiating. Burial will follow at the Highland Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 6 until 7:30 p.m.
