Ileta Jewel Driskill

Ileta Jewel Driskill, 90, of Abilene, passed into the loving arms of Jesus on Monday, April 25, 2016 in Abilene, Texas. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Tankersley Funeral Home (807 S. Columbia St.) in Stamford with Rev. Larry Watts officiating. Burial will follow at the Spring Creek Cemetery near Avoca, TX under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home in Stamford.
Ileta was one of eight children born to the late Alton and Zettie (Watts) Shelton of Avoca. She was a 1944 graduate of Avoca High School. On February 3, 1945, Ileta and Paul Driskill were united in marriage. To this union three children were born; Doug, Jerry and Molly.
Ileta’s life began a new adventure with her marriage to Paul as she supported him in his career with the U.S. Air Force from 1943 to 1967. The Air Force took them to various places in Texas and Oklahoma, along with a two year tour in Turkey. Returning to Texas Ileta and Paul resided in Wichita Falls until his death on December 15, 201l. Paul and Ileta were blessed with 66 years of marriage prior to Paul’s death. In 2013 Ileta moved to Abilene, TX to be near her daughter. She was a lifetime member of the Baptist Church.
Memories of Ileta will be cherished by her three children; Doug Driskill of Robert Lee, TX, Jerry Driskill and wife Debra of Wichita Falls, TX, Molly Bradshaw and husband Kenneth of Abilene, TX; three sisters, Shirley Seay and husband Jimmy of Mineral Wells, TX, Cindy Raughton and husband Rudy of Roscoe, TX, Mattie Smith and husband Wayne of Big Lake, TX; one brother, Bud Shelton and wife Jo Ella of Abilene, TX; two sisters-in-law, Liz Shelton of Kerrville, TX and Joyce Shelton of Abilene, TX; eight grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister Nell Preston and two brothers Harold Shelton and Fred Shelton.
