Barbara Jo Fought

Barbara Jo Hill Fought 81, left this earthly life to be with her Lord and Savior and her family waiting for her in heaven on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 in Stamford, Texas. Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Friday, January 8, 2016 at the Tankersley Funeral Home at 807 S. Columbia, Stamford, Texas. Burial will follow at the Fairview Cemetery in Tuxedo. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until service time.

Barbara was born in Stamford, Texas on September 2, 1934 to the late Claude Hill and Henrietta Campbell Hill. She was a lifetime resident of the area and was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church. She worked all of her life as a cook and she was very good at it. She worked at the Stamford Hospital in dietary and at Teakwood Manor nursing home as a certified nurse’s aide. She married K. D. Fought in 1955 in Oklahoma. He preceded her in death in 1972. She was the greatest Mom and Grandmother ever.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 1 sister, Betty Schooler and 2 brothers, Donnie Hill and Mike Hill.

Barbara leaves to cherish her memories, 1 daughter, Vickie Sue Powell and husband Bill of Stamford, 1 son, Ed Walling and wife Mary of Waco, 1 sister, Linda Neely and husband Bill of Hamlin and 1 brother, Roy Hill of Hamlin, 2 sisters in law, Rose Ann Hill of Stamford and Maria Hill of Connecticut, 2 maternal aunts, Velma Rorie of Stamford and Lillie Kirkland of Graham, 6 grandchildren, Becky Fox, Carl Pruitt Jr., Cathy Pender, Billy Powell Jr., Emily Walling and Jay Walling, 8 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
