Dwain Allen Nauert, 66, passed from this life into the arms of his Lord and Savior on Friday, December 18, 2015.

Dwain was born December 6, 1949, to Richard and Emma (Pearson) Nauert in Stamford,Texas.

Dwain spent his first few years on a farm in the Ericksdahl Community before moving to Stamford following the death of his father in February of 1952. He was a 1968 graduate of Stamford High School. He continued his education at West Texas State University on a football scholarship and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing and Finance. He was a member of Kappa Alpha fraternity. Dwain began roofing and building swimming pools throughout college and continued this line of work after graduation. Dwain later moved to Dallas where he was employed by a company building swimming pools. He then was employed by Miles Holmes Construction in Dallas. In the late ‘70s, he returned to Stamford and took over Ross Gentry Gulf from his step-father. Dwain married Karen Lovvorn on February 26, 1983 in Stamford, Texas. To this union two sons were born, Logan and Blake. Dwain built and operated Nauerts’ Lube and Wash prior to working in several states in the wind and solar industry for Renewable Energy Systems, where he worked at the time of his death.

Dwain sacrificed and put others before himself. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and golfing. He liked to cook and experiment with new recipes. He was friendly and kind and always took the time to listen. He was especially proud of his sons and was a devoted husband and father.

Survivors include his wife, Karen; two sons, Logan Nauert and Blake Nauert all of Stamford, TX; one sister, Margaret Miller of Stamford, TX; one step brother, David Gentry and wife Carla of El Paso, TX; his mother-in-law, Lou Jean Lovvorn of Stamford, TX; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Dwain was preceded in death by his parents, his step-dad, Ross Gentry, brother-in-law, Mike Miller, step-sister, Mary Beth Law, father-in-law, Doug Lovvorn and nephew, Dennis Miller.

Pallbearers will be David Pearson, Larry Jones, Gary Miller, Ricky Miller, Glen Pearson, Mark Pearson, and Keith Pearson.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Johnny Kieke, Joe Smith Upshaw, Leland Nauert, Lynn Nauert, John Culpepper, Bill Perry, Ken Roberson, Lloyd Blackwell, Larry Blackwell, and Monroe Burkman.

The family will gather for visitation at Tankersley Funeral Home, (807 S. Columbia) Tuesday, December 22, 2015 from 5:00-6:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Bethel Lutheran Church (10625 FM Rd. 600 N. Avoca, Texas 79503) with Rev. Teresa Davis officiating. Services are under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home.
