J C Swofford

Joe Swofford was born in Waxahachie, Texas on October 29, 1924 to Jacie and Sadie (Walton) Swofford. He passed away on December 12, 2015 at Burleson, Texas.
Funeral Services will be Monday, December 14, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at the Tankersley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jesse Morton officiating. The services will be under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home 807 S. Columbia. The family will be receiving friends and family at the funeral home from 2:00 p.m. until service time Monday.
Joe was a 1941 graduate of Stamford High School. After high school he joined the Coast Guard for 2 years. He continued his education at North Texas State, graduating in 1950. Following graduation from college he was employed with American Airlines for 13 years. Joe married the love of his life Miss Yvonne Young on December 22, 1947. The Swofford Family returned to Stamford in 1964 and operated the Shamrock Service Station in Sagerton until retiring in 1988. On June 14, 2015 Joe and Yvonne relocated to Burleson.
He is survived by his wife of almost 68 years, Yvonne Swofford of Burleson, TX; 2 daughters, Susan Smith and husband Gary of Ovalo, TX and Jo Ann Green and husband Kenny of Burleson, TX; 4 grandchildren, Brittany Weaver, Colt Pendergraft, Breann Martinez and husband Chris and Hagen Smith: 2 great grandchildren, Cadince Pendergraft and Ella Martinez.
