Myrtle D. Richards

Myrtle Olson Richards, 100, went to be with our LORD on Tuesday, February 24, 2009. Funeral services will be at 4:00 p.m. Friday at the Bethel Lutheran Church in Ericksdahl with Pastors Teresa Davis and Clements Richards officiating. Burial will follow at the Bethel Lutheran Cemetery under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home of Stamford. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 5 until 7 p.m.

Myrtle was born in Jones county on October 31, 1908 to Hjalmer and Emilia Swenson Olson and lived in the Ericksdahl and Stamford community all of her life. On December 14, 1927 , she married Okey Richards. They celebrated 65 years of marriage prior to his death in 1992. She was a housewife and a farmer. She loved the world of farming and was a staunch supporter of her church, Bethel Lutheran, until her death.

A faithful wife, loving mother, dedicated Christian and caring friend, Myrtle was truly an example of Proverbs 31.

She is survived by three children, Clements Richards and wife Margaret of LaGrange; Barbara Burton of Garland, ; and Darrell Richards and wife, Clara, of Avoca. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 4 great, great grandchildren. The eldest of 7 children, she was preceded in death by 5 sisters, Juliette Smith, Linnea Bell, Margaret Bollinger, Henrietta Rankin, Clarice Hebert, 1 brother, Gene Olson, an infant grandson and Don Burton, son-in-law.
