Ida B. (Hammond) Ehis, passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at a local hospital. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 21, 2009 at the Solomon Temple Baptist Church in Stamford with Revs. Donnie L. Massey and Henry Diggs officiating. Burial will follow in the Stamford West Cemetery under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home in Stamford.
Ida was born June 17, 1957 in Stamford to Fred and Larcenia Hammond Tyler Sr. She went to school at Booker T. Washington and later attended Stamford Independent schools. She worked in the food industry for years. She moved to Garland from Stamford in 1997 and met and married Matthew Ehis. She was a member of the Church of God in Christ in Dallas, Texas.
She is survived by her husband, Matthew Ehis of Wylie, Texas, three sons, Quincy Tyrone Hammond and wife Emily of Dallas, Michael Hammond of Tucson, Arizona, and Steven Hammond of Altus, Oklahoma, one daughter Dorislon Hammond of Dallas, Texas, five brothers, John Henry, George Hammond, Willie Tyler and Fred Tyler Jr. all of Fort Worth, Texas and L. V. Henry of Amarillo, Texas, one sister, Sarah Henry of Fort Worth, Texas, sixteen grand children and one great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Edward Hammond, three sisters, Irene Ford, Bertha Howard, and Ester Henry, two brothers, Obrey James Henry, and Roy Lee Tyler, and one grand daughter, Krissy Yeldell.
