Billie Jean Burns, 80, of Lueders, passed away on Friday Feb. 13, 2009 in an Abilene hospital. Funeral services were at 3:00 p.m. Monday, Feb. 16, 2009 at the Tankersley Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in the Clear Fork Cemetery in Lueders.
Billie Jean was born July 27, 1928 in Sulphur Springs, TX to Rueben and Mary Florence Smith. Mary Florence died at childbirth and Billie Jean was raised by Lillian and Rueben Smith. She moved to Lueders in 1980 from Midland, TX. She was a Baptist and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by 3 daughters, Rebecca Jean Manning of Stamford, Patsy Ann Womble and husband Hilton of Lueders, Sharron Dale Gallagher of Kermit, TX, 2 sons, Darrell Eugene Burns and wife Linda of Midland and Billy Lynn Burns of Sugarland, TX, 1 sister, Melba Ratliff of Amarillo, TX, 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild and 1 on the way.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 sister, Ola Lee Helms, 1 brother, Coy Smith, 2 grandchildren, Michael Dale Ditmore and Ta Burns.
