Allen Gene Ender, 70, of Stamford, passed away on Monday, January 19, 2009 at an Abilene hospital.Funeral services were at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at the Bethel Christ Lutheran Church in Stamford, with Rev. Teresa Davis and Don Heller officiating. Burial followed in the New Hope Cemetery under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home. Gene was born January 27, 1938 in Haskell county to August and Lydia Ender. He was raised in the area and graduated from Rule High School in 1956. He went to work at the Safeway store in Stamford for a couple years before entering into full time farming. He married Lilly May Skiles on November 8, 1958. He was a former member of the board of directors for the Farmers Coop. Gin and was a member of the Bethel Christ Lutheran Church. Gene loved to play dominoes and played at a couple of places in town when his health permitted.He is survived by 1 son, Donald Ender and wife, Jocille of Stamford, 1 daughter, Debra McClure and husband, Curtis, of Stamford, 1 sister, Odene Dudensing of Sagerton, 5 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and several other relatives.He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Lilly of 49 years, and 1 great grandson.
