Learnce Hill,65, of Houston, passed away on Monday, Jan 26, 2009, in Houston. Funeral services were Saturday, January 31, 2009 at the Solomon Temple Baptist Church in Stamford with Revs. William Jackson and William Daniels officiating. Burial followed in the Highland Memorial Cemetery in Stamford under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home.

Learnce was born to Otis and Savannah Hill on June 16, 1943 in Naples, Texas. Learnce, better know as “Dushane”, graduated from Fredericks Douglas High School in Anson in 1960. On December 24, 1961, Learnce united in holy matrimony with Verna E. Thomas. Learnce and Verna moved their family to Houston, TX, where he began driving for Rapid Transit. Shortly after departing Rapid Transit Bus Line, he started his own business as a Paint and Body repair man. Through the blessing hands of GOD, Learnce was then able to start his own bus line “Safeway Tour & Travel”. He was a blessing to others and loved by many. He will be truly missed.

He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, 1 sister, Carrie Brown and 3 brothers, William, Urias, and Verlin Hill.

Memories of Learnce will be cherished and his passing will be mourned by his baby sister, Anna Norman of Abilene, his children, Rhonda Hill-Johnson, of Dallas, LaNita Hill-Robbins, Joyce Hill, Otis Hill and Leta Hill, all of Houston, and Anthony Thompson of El Paso, son-in-law, Arcel Johnson Jr., of Dallas, daughter-in-law Yvette Hill, 8 grandchildren, Valerie Robbins, Arcel Johnson III, Detricia Hall, Maurice Hill, Michael Nunn, Savannah Harris and husband Kellyn, Joshua Williams, De’Antoine Carter, and 4 great grandchildren, December Hall, Jordan Johnson, Aamani Johnson, and Aniyah Harris, 1 niece Rochelle Norman and 2 nephews, Michael Norman and Ira Black, along with a host of other relatives and friends.
