Frances Escobedo Alvarez

October 10, 1924 — April 21, 2015

On Tuesday, April 21, 2015, Frances E. Alvarez of Mansfield, Texas and formerly of Stamford, Texas, passed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, surrounded by her family. She was 90 years old.
Frances Escobedo was born on October 10, 1924 in Stamford, Texas to Benito and Juana (Salas) Escobedo. In 1941 Frances married Julio B. Alvarez in Sterling City, Texas, to this union 6 children were born. She worked as a seamstress at Russell Newman Sewing Factory for 40 plus years. She was a loving wife and mother. Throughout her life, Frances found joy in family gatherings, shopping with her daughters and granddaughters and going out to eat. She moved to the Stamford area in 1973 and resided here until moving to Mansfield. She was a member of the Catholic Church.
Frances is survived by six children; Mary Rodriguez and husband Tony of Everman, Texas Rey Alvarez and wife Frances of Stamford, Texas, Janie Young of Arlington, Texas, Adella Ortiz and husband Sam of Rockwall, Texas, Renee Alvarez and wife Janie of Saginaw, Texas, and Olga Vasquez and husband Jacob of Mansfield, Texas, 1 sister, Mercedes Perez, and 4 brothers, Rufino Escobedo, Fedencio "Chief" Escobedo, Julian Escobedo, and Nati Escobedo, 13 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a sister, Ruby Torres, three brothers, Alfredo Escobedo, Bernie Escobedo and Elisa Escobedo and a grandson, Eric Alvarez.
Rosary services will be at 6 p.m. Friday at the Tankersley Funeral Chapel and Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Stamford with Dr. Jacob West officiating. Burial will follow at the Highland Memorial Cemetery in Stamford.
