On Friday, March 6, 2015, Donna Sue Anders of Stamford, Texas, passed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior. She was 73 years old. Donna Sue’s family and friends will gather to cherish her memory Sunday, March 8, 2015 with Funeral Services at 2:00 p.m. at the Trinity Baptist Church with Dr. Robert Wingrove officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Creek Cemetery under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home. Visitation will be Saturday, March 7, 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Tankersley Funeral Home 807 S. Columbia Street Stamford, Texas.
Donna Sue Gambill was born November 17, 1941, in Arcadia, LA to Earl Gambill, Jr. and Irma (Keene) Gambill. Donna Sue moved to Stamford with her family as a teenager. She was a 1959 graduate of Stamford High School. Following graduation she moved to Abilene to work at the Paramount Theatre and attend night classes at Midwestern State University. Donna Sue and John Earl Anders were united in marriage on November 12, 1968 in Stamford. John Earl preceded her in death in 1994. She worked for Noah Project North for 27 years, for 3 years she served on the advisory committee and worked 24 years as the Service Area Director. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and was involved in numerous organizations in the Big County Area.
Survivors include, 4 sons, Billy (Punky) Anders and wife Marianne of Abilene, TX, Ricky Horne of Clyde, TX, Pete Anders and wife Linda of Stamford, TX, and Johnny Anders and wife Cindy of Stamford, TX; 1 sister, Ann Taylor of Dallas, TX; 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, and 2 sisters, Johnnie Lawson and Gloria Henson.
