Apolonia Medrano Gonzales, 80, of Stamford, passed away on Monday, December 1, 2014 in Abilene. Rosary services will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Tankersley Funeral Home at 807 S. Columbia, Stamford, Texas. Funeral Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Thursday at the St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Stamford with Father Angelo Consemino officiating. Burial will follow at the Highland Memorial Cemetery.
Apolonia was born September 3, 1934 in Rotan, Texas to Marcos and Natividad Medrano. She was raised and attended school at Hobbs, TX. graduating in 1952 from Hobbs High School. She married Louis Gonzales in 1955, in Rotan. To this union three sons were born. She was a member of the St. Ann’s Catholic Church. She retired in 1990 after 15 years as a nurse’s aide at the Stamford Memorial Hospital.
Preceding her in death were her parents, 3 brothers, Marcos Medrano Jr., Ben Medrano, and Califino Medrano and 1 sister.
She is survived by her husband, Louis Gonzales of Stamford, 3 sons, Robert Gonzales of Stamford, Sammy Gonzales of Stamford and Joe Gonzales of El Paso, 1 brother, Raymond Medrano of Odessa, and 1 sister, Ruby Gonzales of Odessa, 5 grandchildren, Kristy Gonzales, Robert Gonzales Jr., Matthew Gonzales, April Gonzales, and Christopher Elias, and 3 great grandchildren, Jacob Garcia, Kelsey Cardenas, and Jagger Gonzales.
