Ted Connally, 82, of Stamford passed away Thursday, October 23, 2014. His loved ones will be receiving visitors at Tankersley Funeral Home (807 S. Columbia St.) Sunday, October 26, 2014 from 5-7 p.m. Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 27, 2014 at Faith Lutheran Church in Sagerton, Texas with the Rev. Anna Robbins officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery at Sagerton, Texas under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home.
Teddy Lee Connally was born March 12, 1932 in Gilmer, Texas. He was the ninth of ten children born to A.M. and Annie (Mathews) Connally. He was a 1950 graduate of Gilmer High School.
Ted served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1951-1954. Following his tour of duty he came to West Texas to work as a rough neck in the oil field. Ted married the love of his life, Loretta Neinast, September 23, 1956 in Sagerton, Texas. They were married for 53 years prior to Loretta’s death on January 23, 2010. He owned and operated a TV shop prior to his employment with the U.S. Postal Service as a mail carrier and later a window clerk. Ted retired from the post office with 25 plus years of service.
Ted was an avid woodworker. He spent many labor of love hours crafting wood into beautiful intricate masterpieces for his home, family and friends. He was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church and Sons of Hermann Lodge. Ted will be remembered for his warm and friendly smile, quick wit and compassion for others. His wife and family were the center of his universe.
Ted was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, 5 sisters and 4 brothers. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Dwaine and Beth Connally of San Antonio, Texas; a special sister-in-law Laverne Stanhope of Stamford, Texas and her daughter and family, Phyllis and Richard Faulkner of Marlow, Oklahoma and their son Kevin Faulkner; a niece Carol Hemphill of Cornwall, New York and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to the Faith Lutheran Church at 2308 Hwy 283, Sagerton, Texas 79548.
