Amelia Mejia, 77, of Bryan and formerly of Stamford passed away Saturday, July 26, 2014 at home surrounded by her loving family. Rosary will be 6:00 p.m. Monday, July 28, 2014 at Tankersley Funeral Home (807 S. Columbia Street). Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church with Father Angelo Consemino officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home.
Amelia was born August 26, 1936 in Orange, Texas to Antero Delgado, Sr. and Angelita (Ramon) Delgado. Amelia lived in the Bryan area with her children and family. She worked at Texas A&M University in the environmental services department, and retired in 1986. She moved back to Stamford in 1988 to care for her mother. She returned to the Bryan area in 2010. Amelia loved to cook and feed everyone. She loved to be outside taking care of her plants. She was loved by everyone, and anyone that came into her life. She was a loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and Friend.
She is survived by 2 sons, Evaristo Mejia, Jr. of Waco and Guadalupe “Green” Mejia of Bryan; 3 daughters Alicia Leija of San Antonio, TX, Victoria Mejia and Maria Zavala of Bryan, TX; 5 brothers Antonio Delgado of Chilton, TX, Antero Delgado, Jr. and Gilbert Delgado both of Abilene, TX and Victor Delgado of Stamford, TX and Raul Delgado of Wichita Falls, TX; 21 Grandchildren and beautiful Great Grandchildren and Great Great-Grandchildren.
The family would like to express great appreciate for Dr. Joshua Lucas and Texas A&M Physicians, Dr. Freddrick Tan, Dr. Wade Farrow and the Wound Healing Center, everyone at Liberty Dialysis in Bryan, Traditions Home Health and Hospice and to her Nurse Shelley.
