Glynn Alonzo Lovvorn, 89, of Stamford, passed away on Thursday, December 5th at a San Angelo Hospital after a brief illness. Glynn was born June 25, 1924 in Haskell County to Emmitt Alonzo and Frankie Brown Lovvorn. He grew up in the Corinth Community and attended school at Bunker Hill and Corinth. He graduated from Stamford High School.
In 1950, he married Lydia Tredemeyer and they were married for over 48 years until her death in 1998. Glynn was a lifetime farmer. Following retirement he developed a passion for restoring and showing antique tractors, especially his 1916 Moline, with which he won many prizes at tractor shows throughout the state. He was a World War II Army Air Corp veteran and a member of the First Baptist Church in Stamford.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, 1 brother, Orbie Lovvorn and 1 sister-in-law, Donna Lovvorn.
He is survived by his three sons: Michael Lovvorn and wife Sandra of Belton, Gary Lovvorn and wife Susie of Funston and Robert Lovvorn and wife Gayle of Stamford. 4 grandchildren, Callie Smith and husband Phillip of Stamford, Matthew Lovvorn of Stamford, Kimberly Barnes and husband Charles of Round Rock, and Ron Konstantin, of Abilene, 2 great grandchildren, Logan and Benjamin Metler of Stamford.
Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, December 8, at the Tankersley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jacob West officiating. Burial will follow at the New Hope Cemetery in Jones County.
The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 1:30 until service time.
