Conception “Pearl” Alvarez, 67, of Abilene and formerly of Stamford, passed away on Friday, April 19, 2013 in Abilene. A funeral mass will be said at 10 a.m. Monday, April 22, 2013 at the St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Stamford with Father Michael Melcher officiating and assisted by Deacon Juan Bustamante. Burial will follow at the Highland Memorial Cemetery in Stamford under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home.
Concepcion was born June 22, 1945 in Stamford to Guadalupe and Lupe Martinez. She was a lifetime resident of Stamford, until moving to Abilene about 15 years ago. She was a seamstress and a foster grandparent for the Abilene State School. She married Emiterio Alvarez. He preceded her in death on September 15, 1980. She is a member of the St. Francis Catholic Church in Abilene.
She is survived by 2 sons: Ronny Garcia and wife Kiersta of Mansfield, Texas and Ronald Alvarez of Abilene. 3 daughters, Rhonda Gomez and husband Maurice Sr. of Sweetwater, Roxanna Stewart of Abilene, Racquel Alvarez Rosas and husband Jose of Abilene, 2 step daughters, Sylvia Escobedo of Stamford, and Connie Alvarez Gibbs of Wichita Falls, TX, 4 sisters, Juanita Almaguer and husband Reyes and Virginia Dela Cruz and husband Paul all of Abilene, Christina Guzman and husband Clemente of Fort Worth, and Nellie Herrera and husband Gilbert of Jonestown, TX, 15 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
