Robert Lee Reves Sr.

Robert Lee Reves Sr., 90, of Stamford, passed away on Monday, March 4, 2013. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at the Lueders First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dennis Huffaker and Mickey Nierdieck Reves officiating. Burial will follow at the Rockdale Cemetery under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home of Stamford. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home from 6:00 to 7:00 Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at Tankersley Funeral Home.
Robert was born in Jones County, Texas October 16, 1922 to Cyrus and Mary Lou Reves. The Berryhill Community in Shackelford County was his lifelong home and community for many years, prior to relocating to Stamford a couple of years ago. Following graduation from Lueders High School in 1940 Robert enlisted in the U. S. Army Air Corp. He served his country as a weapons instructor. Robert married Mary Martin on April 15, 1944. To this union four children were born; Robert, Jr., Peggy, Kathy and Carolyn. Mary preceded him in death in 1989. Robert was an avid outdoors man with a zest for life which reflected in his career choice of becoming a farmer. The greatest love in Robert’s life were his family, friends and spending time hunting, fishing, dancing and playing dominoes. He supported his children and family in various activities. Robert served on the Lueders School Board, Ericksdahl Water Supply Board, County Committeeman for the Agriculture Stabilization and Conservation Service, earning the conservationist of the year award in 1964.
Survivors include his son, Robert (Bobby) Reves Jr. and wife Sandra of Lueders, two daughters Peggy Jordan and husband Jackie of Lueders and Carolyn Burkman and husband Royce of Lueders. Grandchildren Kristi Oden and husband Brian, Cody Jordan and wife Jaime, Jewellee Kuenstler and husband Tracy, Robert Ray Kershman, Mickey Nierdieck Reves and wife Tiffany, Sheila Wagner and husband Mike. Great grandchildren, Robert Jacob Willis, Kyle Lee Oden, T. J. Kuenstler, Rylon Jordan, Mason Jordan, Brookelyn Wagner, Evan Wagner, Griffin Wagner, Colton Wagner, Caleb Reves and Logan Reves and Briley Kershman.
He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, daughter, Kathy Kershman, grand daughter, Sara Reves, grandson, Will Jordan, step grandson, Leslie Burkman, 2 sisters and brothers in law, Nell and J. C. Holt and Ruby and Jerry Stice.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the donor’s favorite charity.
