Ruby Escobedo Torres

Ruby Torres, 88, of Stamford, passed away on Tuesday, January 15, 2013. Rosary services will be at 6 p.m. Thursday at the St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Stamford. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Church with Father George Roney officiating. Burial will follow at the Highland Memorial Cemetery in Stamford under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home.
Ruby was born in Stamford on March 27, 1924 to Benito and Juana Escobedo. She was a lifetime resident of the area. She married Solomon Torres on January 4, 1948 in Lubbock, TX. To this union six children were born. Ruby was a homemaker who loved her family very much. She was a member of the St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Stamford.
Survivors include 2 sons, Jaime Torres and wife Mary of Abilene, and Edward Torres of Fort Worth, 2 daughters, Delilah Lopez of Abilene and Christine Allison and companion, Larry Denson of Stamford, 5 brothers, Nati Escobedo and wife Terri of Pflugerville, TX, Julian Escobedo and wife Eva of Stamford, Fidencio Escobedo of Haskell, Nick Escobedo and wife Evelyn of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Rufino Escobedo and wife Irma of Austin, 2 sisters, Frances Alvarez and Mercedes Perez, both of Fort Worth, 14 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, Alfred Escobedo, and Bernard Escobedo, 2 sons, Armando Torres Sr. and Ralph Torres, and 1 grandson, Armando Torres Jr.
