Bertha Bounds, 87, of Stamford, passed away on Wednesday, 1/9/2013. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, 1/12/2013 at the Tankersley Funeral Home with Rev. Jesse Morton officiating. Burial will follow at the Highland Memorial Cemetery in Stamford. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home on Friday from 5 until 7 p.m.
Bert was born May 16, 1925 in Sagerton, Texas to Emil and Anna Kainer. She was a lifetime resident of the Stamford-Sagerton area, graduating from Stamford High School in 1943. She was a member of the Central Presbyterian Church, a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and served as the Secretary-Treasurer for the Stamford Junior Sherriff’s Posse for over 20 years. She married James Freeman in 1943, he passed away in 1958. She later married Gene Bounds in 1963. Bert worked as an Abilene Reporter News agent for over 38 years, retiring in 1991.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Gene Bounds, of Stamford, 2 daughters, Cherry Wilhoite and husband Tom of Arlington, Judy Clifford and husband Kevin of Abilene, 1 son, Tony Freeman and wife Billy Jo, of Abilene, 1 daughter in law, Michelle Bounds, of Hawley, 3 sisters, Meta Kupatt of Stamford, Pauline Barnett of Abilene, and Alvina Rinn and husband Roland of Houston, 5 grandchildren, Jason Wilson, Cole Wilson, Josh Freeman, Justin Bounds and wife Aleesha and Brendon Bounds, and 1 great granddaughter, Addie Bounds.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, 1 son, Jerome Bounds, 1 sister, Lucille Bradshaw, and 4 brothers, Emil Kainer, Oscar Kainer, Johnny Kainer, and Jerry Kainer.
