Jon Gerald Mclennan

Jon Gerald McLennan died on Sunday, October 28, 2012 at his home in Haskell County. He was 90 years old.

Gerald was born November 24, 1921 to the late Gladstone and Katherine McLennan in Haskell County Texas. He attended Tarleton State College prior to serving in the U.S. Navy during WW II. Gerald was a flight instructor at Pensacola NAS then flew medevac missions in the islands of the Pacific.

Upon returning to the States, Gerald married Hertha Marie Soderberg on January 28, 1944 in Pensacola, Florida. To this union of 57 years four children were born. Marie preceded Gerald in death on March 1, 2001.

Gerald had a 45 year career flying for American Flyers, Pure Oil Company and Union Oil Company of California.

On June 10, 2012 Gerald married Olga Castro.

Gerald is survived by his wife Olga; his children; Mike McLennan and wife Cheri of Midland, TX, Gary McLennan and wife Mary Lou of Spring, TX, and daughter Karen McCoy of Katy, TX; a brother, Gale McLennan of Broken Arrow, OK; 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a daughter Sue Ellen, a son-in-law Steve McCoy, and a brother Gladstone McLennan, Jr.

The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. on Wednesday, October 31 at Tankersley Funeral Home 807 S. Columbia Street in Stamford, Texas. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, November 1, 2012 at the Tankersley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Teresa Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Rockdale Cemetery in Haskell County under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home.
