Chip Sugar

May 15, 1964 — September 12, 2012

Chip Sugar, 48, of Stamford went to his home in heaven Wednesday, September 12, 2012. A memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 15, 2012 at the Fort Phantom Baptist Church with Clay Jacobs and Ray Flanary officiating.
Chip was born May 15, 1964 in Palm Springs, California to Curtis Wesley and Geraldine Alice Sugar. He perceived himself as a military brat, being moved every time his father’s orders changed. He moved to Abilene as a teenager and became involved in the horse industry, training and shoeing horses. Chip spent a lot of time on the rodeo circuit. He also started a round pen horse ministry, utilizing his training techniques as a means to share the gospel of Christ, preaching a salvation message while completely breaking a wild horse. He was a devoted father who loved and was extremely proud of his 3 daughters and was overjoyed about being blessed with a son in the very near future. Chip quickly became a brother that was always there for you and would never leave you in the time of need. He could make you smile on the worst of days and was adored by everyone. He was a devoted Christian man who believed that you arrived at the grave sliding in sideways shouting “what a ride”.
Chip is survived by his loving wife, Frances of the home. His mother, Geraldine Sugar of Glendale Arizona, 3 daughters, Allison Roam and husband Matt of Midland, Courtney Sugar and Victoria Sugar, both of Hawley and 1 expected son, Austin of Stamford, 1 step daughter, Amber Gilbreath and 1 stepson, Andy Gilbreath, and 1 step grand daughter, Emily Wilson, 6 sisters Sammi Sugar, Terry Bishop, Mickey Ellman, Shirley Harlan, Anna Mayhugh, and Vanessa Wilson, and 1 brother Robert Sugar.
He was preceded in death by his father and his first wife, Carla.
