Spencer Baize, 78, of Stamford, passed away Wednesday June 27, 2012 in Abilene. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Tankersley Funeral Home Chapel in Stamford. The Rev. Bobby Duncan will officiate. Burial will follow at 12:00 p.m. in the Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Abilene Tankersley Funeral Home is handling arrangements. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 6 until 7:30 p.m.
Spencer was born July 29, 1933 in the Tuxedo Community of Jones County to the late Sam and Hollis Harwell Baize. He was a lifelong resident of Jones County and a 1951 graduate of Stamford High School. He served his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. Spencer owned and operated the Baize Cattle Co. for many years. He had a great love for cutting horses and the Texas Cowboy Reunion serving as a rodeo judge for several years. Spencer married Terri Macri Phillips on April 6, 1996.
He is survived by his wife, Terri Baize of Stamford, his son, Russ Baize of Stamford, 3 grandchildren, Casey Baize, Samantha Baize, and Chad Baize, 3 great grandchildren, and his sister, Jerry Ann Howard and husband Don of Stamford. He is further survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Rob Baize.
He is also survived by a step son, Michael Phillips and wife Lisa of Cleburne, TX, 2 step grandchildren, Warren and Emma Phillips, a father in law, A. J. Macri of Gainesville, TX, 1 brother in law, Dom Macri and 4 sisters in law, Jody, Joanna, Marie and Donna. He was also preceded in death by his mother in law, Sue Macri.
