Ruby Pearl Rorie, 84, of Stamford, passed away on Sunday, June 10, 2012 at an Abilene hospital. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at the First Baptist Church in Stamford with Rev. Jacob West officiating. Burial will follow in the Highland Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6 until 8 p.m.
Ruby was born August 3, 1927 in Malone, Texas to Erwin and Rosie Lowe. She moved to Stamford as a child and graduated from Stamford High School in 1944. She married L. C. Rorie on July 9, 1945. After they were married they moved to California where L. C. was in the Air Force. She and L. C. were stationed throughout the world during his career in the air force, moving back to Stamford after retirement in 1967. Ruby was a homemaker and loving mother. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Stamford.
She is survived by 3 daughters, Debbie Ann Lee and husband Glenn of Abilene, Linda Lee Epley of Andrews, and Andra Sue Uchniat and husband Gene of Flower Mound, 1 son, Stephen Michael Rorie of McKinney, 1 brother Tommy Ray Lowe and wife Ann of Waco, 10 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 64 years, 1 son, Jeff Alan Rorie, 2 sisters, Margaret Rorie and Lafern Wagner, 2 brothers, Garland Lowe and Kenneth Lowe.
