Billy Wayne Barnett

Bill Barnett, 79, of Stamford, passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 in Abilene. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 27, 2012 at the Tankersley Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Burt Williams officiating. Burial will follow at the Highland Memorial Cemetery in Stamford.

Bill was born December 3, 1932 in Buffalo Springs, TX to J. W. and Ellen Barnett. He was raised in the Childress area and attended school there. Bill went to work for the Burlington Northern Railroad as a teenager and continuted his lifelong employment with them until his retirement in 1986. Bill moved to Stamford in 1970 and married Billie Kendrick in 1973. Bill was a proud member of the Stamford Hospital Auxiliary.

Surviving Bill are 4 daughters, Janice Upshaw and husband Joe of Stephenville, TX, Pam Parker of Hawley, TX, Twyla Jean Barnett of Dallas, TX and Tylynn Barnett of Childress, TX, 1 son, Gary Kendrick and wife Bertha of Abilene, 1 sister, Joyce Wilson of Dotham, Alabama and 1 brother, James Barnett and wife Sherry of Childress, a friend, Bobbie Tubbs of Stamford, 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Billie, 1 sister, Ruby, 2 brothers, Marvin and Peewee and 1 son-in-law, Randy Parker.
