Paul Batie Driskill

Paul Batie Driskill, 87, went to his home in heaven on Thursday, December 15, 2011. Funeral Services will be Saturday, December 17, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Tankersley Funeral Home Chapel in Stamford with the Rev. Gary Hibbs officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at Spring Creek Cemetery at Avoca under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home.
Paul was born December 22, 1923 to John and Ruby Gentry Driskill in the Wilson community near Anson, TX. He attended school at Wilson-Anson prior to joining the Air Force in 1943. Paul took pride in his service to his country and retired as a Senior Master Sergeant after serving over 24 years in the Air Force. He completed sixty five combat missions as an Aerial Gunner in World War II in Europe. He was awarded the Purple Heart, Air Medal with eleven Oak Leaf Clusters and four Campaign Battle Stars. On February 3, 1945 Paul was married to Ileta Jewel Shelton in Avoca, TX to this union three children were born.
Paul is survived by his wife of 66 years, Ileta Driskill of Wichita Fall, TX; two sons, Doug Driskill of San Angelo, TX, and Jerry Driskill and wife Debra of Wichita Falls; one daughter, Molly Bradshaw and her husband Kenneth of Abilene, TX; two sisters, Margie Davis and Elsie Nell Dansby; eight grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren.
