Jane June Miller

Jane Miller, 90, of San Antonio and formerly of Stamford, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 8, 2011 in San Antonio. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at the Central Presbyterian Church in Stamford with Rev. Teresa Davis officiating. Burial will follow at the Highland Memorial Cemetery in Stamford under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home on Monday from 4:00 until 5:30 p.m.
Jane was born July 20, 1921 in New Kensington, Pennsylvania to Edward and Anna George. She graduated from High School in New Kensington in 1939. Jane continued her education in nursing school, graduating with a licensed vocational nurses certificate. On December 15, 1945 she married Warren Miller in New Kensington, Pennsylvania where they resided for 3 years. In 1948 the couple moved to Abilene, Texas, and to Stamford in 1949. The Miller’s moved into their home on Wells Street in 1951 and Jane lived there until 2005 when she moved to San Antonio to be near her daughter and son in law. Jane was a member of the Stamford Lioness Club, and The Pierian Club of Stamford. She was a member of the Central Presbyterian Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir, and serving her church in many capacities. She was a licensed vocational nurse for the Stamford Memorial Hospital for over 27 years, and also worked as the night supervisor for many years.
She is survived by 1 daughter, Lois Ann Cole and husband Robert of San Antonio, 1 son in law Ronald J. Reed of Fulshear, TX, and 1 daughter in law, Donna Maguire of Plano, TX. 4 grandchildren, Patricia Gail Cabay and husband Frederic, Matthew Reed, Benjamin Wayne Cole and wife Lauren and Laura Anne Cole. 5 great grandchildren, Audry and Roman Cabay, Ella and Luke Reed, and Loralei Elizabeth Cole.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 50 years, 1 son, Butch Miller, 1 daughter, Patricia Elaine Reed, and 1 brother, Lawrence George.
