Cotton Simpson

Severn “Cotton” Simpson, 81, of Stamford, passed away on Friday, September 9, 2011 in Stamford. Graveside funeral services with military honors will begin at 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 12, 2011 at the Highland Memorial Cemetery in Stamford with Rev. James Brigham officiating and under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home.
Cotton was born April 8, 1930 in Emory, Texas to H. W. and Golda Mae Simpson. He moved to Stamford as a child and spent the rest of his life there. He attended Stamford public schools, was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church, and was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean War. Cotton started driving trucks as a teenager and did this most of his life. He also worked with his brother in the Simpson Steel Yard. He married Reba Dale Beene, April 19, 1975 in Sudan, Texas.
Survivors include his daughter, Karla Roysdon and husband James of Stamford, 1 step son, Tommy Schwettmann and wife Helen of Mesquite, 1 sister, Jerri Denson and husband Guy of Stamford, 1 brother L. H. Simpson and wife Blanche of Stamford, 2 grandchildren, Austin Roysdon and Katrina Roysdon, 2 step grand children, Jennifer Cayce and Brandy Rounsazall, 2 step great grand children, Collin Cayce and Reagan Rounsazall, and several other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and 1 sister, Helen Mae.
