Betty Lou Thompson

Betty Lou Thompson, 89, of Avoca, passed away on Wednesday, August 17, 2011 in Stamford. Private graveside services were held at Spring Creek Cemetery in Avoca under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home of Stamford.
Betty was born February 27, 1922 in Haskell County, Texas to John and Addie Crawford. She was raised in the Haskell and Jones county area and graduated Avoca High School in 1940. She married O. K. (Kelley) Thompson on April 4, 1942 in Avoca. She was a homemaker and a member of the Avoca Methodist Church.
She is survived by 2 sons: Kelley Thompson, Jr. and wife Billis of Childress, and Randy Thompson and wife Susie of Arlington, 1 brother, Ernie Crawford and wife Lynn of Odessa, 2 sisters, Jean Martin and husband Bill of Houston and Dorothy Crawford of Nebraska, 4 grandchildren, Vance Thompson and wife Nicole of Paducah, Kelley D’Ann Martin and husband Jeff of Austin, Chance Thompson and Brandy Thompson, 5 great grandchildren, Garrett, Colby and Sawyer Thompson of Paducah, and Brittany and Brooklyn Martin of Austin.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 55 years, 1 brother, Sam Crawford, and 1 sister, Clare Mae Bemenderfer.
