Mary Leo Young

Mary Leo Young, 103 of Graham and formerly of Avoca, passed away on Monday, August 15, 2011 in Graham. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Tankersley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dennis Huffaker officiating. Burial will follow at the Spring Creek Cemetery in Avoca. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until service time.
Mary was born September 14, 1907 in San Saba County, TX to Lansing and Jennie Lindsey. The family moved to the Avoca area when Mary was just a child. She was schooled in Avoca and graduated Avoca High School in 1924. She married Leonard Young December 24, 1925. Mary was a homemaker and a member of the Avoca Methodist Church where she had the honor of becoming the very first person to be baptized in that church.
Survivors include four sons, Leonard Monroe Young and wife Wynelle of Graham, Alton Douglas Young of San Angelo, Charles Arthur Young and wife Wanda of Hobbs, New Mexico, and Adrian Keith Young and wife Marcia of Abilene, 15 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 18 great great grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren, 10 step great grandchildren, and 18 step great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 2 sons, Raymond Earl Young and Lynn Dalton Young, 1 grand son, Jeffrey Young, 3 brothers, Buster Lindsey, Hoolie Lindsey, and Woody Lindsey, and 1 sister, Effie Ivy.
